Nilesh

In the heart of Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Divyang Mulanche Balgruha, Mankhurd, Nilesh is more than just a barber—he is a guardian of dignity and hygiene for the children he serves. Born with an intellectual disability and hearing impairment, his journey has been one of quiet determination.

Arriving at the Home at just 10 years old, Nilesh faced a world that often struggled to understand him. But through special education, vocational training, and rehabilitation, he found his calling. His gentle nature and keen observational skills led him to personal care and grooming, where he took pride in keeping the children clean, confident, and well-groomed.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, when the world stood still, Nilesh remained steadfast—ensuring that every child’s hair, nails, and hygiene were well-maintained. His commitment was recognized, and through the Mazgaon Dock Ltd CSR Project, he secured permanent employment as an in-house barber.

Today, Nilesh stands tall—not despite his challenges, but because he overcame them. In his silent way, he restores dignity, one haircut at a time, proving that true success isn’t measured by words, but by the lives we touch.
