He works in housekeeping at a hotel, where his hard work, dedication, and commitment have made him a trusted and valued team member. Saifulla’s journey from a young boy with intellectual disability to an independent, self-reliant adult is nothing short of inspiring.
When Saifulla first arrived at the Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Divyang Mulanche Balgruha, Mankhurd in 2009, he was just 15 years old. Diagnosed with mild intellectual disability, Saifulla faced many challenges. But from the beginning, he was determined to overcome them. He joined the Home under a CWC court order, where he began his rehabilitation through special education, medical support, and vocational training.
Over time, Saifulla showed a growing interest in sports, cooking, and housekeeping. He participated in various sports events, including winning multiple cricket trophies under his leadership. He also took part in dance competitions, where his energy and spirit shone through. This involvement in extracurricular activities was just the beginning of his transformation.
In the kitchen, Saifulla’s talents blossomed as he learned how to prepare meals and maintain hygiene under the careful guidance of the staff. His meticulousness and willingness to learn made him a crucial part of the team, especially during the COVID-19 lockdown, when he helped ensure the Home’s daily meals were prepared with the utmost care and hygiene.
Encouraged by his progress, Saifulla pursued professional training at the Pratham Institute, Aurangabad, in housekeeping. With CWC support, he completed the course and secured a placement at a hotel in Pune in 2022. His dedication and skills earned him the trust of his employers, marking the start of his independent life.
Saifulla’s story is a testament to the power of education, training, and hard work. From a young boy with a disability to a capable and successful adult, Saifulla now leads a life full of dignity and respect. He is living proof that with the right support, anyone can overcome challenges and turn their dreams into reality.
